Ray Lara

For the past 18 years, Ray Lara has served the San Gabriel Valley community, as a police officer, detective, patrol sergeant, detective sergeant, detective bureau commander, and currently as a watch commander. His assignment afforded Ray the opportunity to collaborate with the Department of Mental Health, the Probation Department, the Bureau of Victim Services, the Department of Children and Family Services, victim advocacy groups, school district employees, and various other resource providers. Ray’s goal is to utilize his experience and expertise as he contributes to the worthy cause of empowering at-risk and foster youth and setting them on a path to success.

Ray attended Union Institute & University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice Management. While assigned to the Detective Bureau, Ray Lara served on the School Attendance Review Board and specialized in the investigation of crimes involving juvenile victims and/or juvenile offenders.  Ray is passionate about developing and mentoring members of the law enforcement community and empowering them with the tools to become leaders and better serve the community. His assignment afforded Ray the opportunity to collaborate with the Department of Mental Health, the Probation Department, the Bureau of Victim Services, the Department of Children and Family Services, victim advocacy groups, school district employees, and various other resource providers.
